Me, Gooner & Jazz went down to Atlantis (Nassau, Bahamas) for the opening night of the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure last night.
Very, very interesting....indeed. First thing we noticed is that nobody dresses like Paul Newman in the Sting, second thing was that half the people in the hotel (3,000 rooms) were sitting in the lobbies and bars playing poker online. But the main eye-opener was how nice everybody seemed to be.

As 'Big Tournament Virgins' we were a little nervous about the whole thing, but we needn't have been. I wanted to chat to a couple of players to try to get a feel of the event (see below) and they were all quite happy to oblige.


Some of the people we met:


Isaac Baron: an 18 year old from California. Won his entry by coming first in a $1,000 Pokerstars Free play, then coming 3rd in $10,000 game. Plays 90% of his poker online but occasionally likes a game with school friends.
Stupidest Tell: A buddy who sighs deeply when he's got big pockets.




Harwood: No other name, Harwood's all you'll need. Floridian who won his way in last year and this. Has a habit of telling everyone what he has to 'Get a Rise' out of them. Look for him on the final table (He told me to say that).



Emil Lavent: lovely old Russian guy. Hardly speaks a word of English, even though he's lived in Miami for years (pictured below)





Grant Pittman: Toronto based, he's honest enough to admit that he's here or the great weather & no taxes and confident enough to believe he's leaving here in the money as there's a 'fairly soft field'. Hmmmm..... Loves playing online players live - 'Even great online players screw up with things like accidental mucks, etc. They know the game but don't get table etiquette'.


Mike White: From Kansas, he's only here to watch and get some Satellite Action. He's got Axe killer eyes which scared me a bit.
