04th July 2006 : Mike Sexton Wins $1,000,000.

Mike Sexton is the Winner of the 2006 Tournament of Champions and collects $1,000,000


Mike Sexton limps in and Daniel Negreanu raises to to 64k. Sexton then raises up to 180k and gets a call. The flop comes 10d 8d 4s and Negreanu pushes all in.
Sexton immediately calls and shows Ah Ac. Negreanu shows his cards Qh Jh and knows he need to improve.

The turn brings the Ad, giving Sexton trips but also giving Negreanu a double gutted straight draw. The river is no help to Daniel - 8c. Mike Sexton wins the 2006 Tournament of Champions and $1,000,000.


Daniel Negreanu finishes second and wins $325,000.

In 2005, PokerStars held its first Online Poker Blogger Championship. Now, their ready to do it again. Only this year, their changing things up a little bit. Instead of sending you to the Bahamas, the winner of this event will be going to Las Vegas to play in the main event of the 2006 World Series of Poker.


PokerStars is proud to announce the 2nd Annual World Blogger Championship of Online Poker (WBCOOP) . This is an exclusive FREE poker tournament open ONLY to Internet bloggers. PokerStars was the first online poker site to launch a fulltime Official PokerStars blog for its players. PokerStars was the first online poker site to offer bloggers an exclusive freeroll tournament. Now, PokerStars will be the first online poker site to send at least nine bloggers to the World Series of Poker for free.

World Blogger Championship of Online Poker Information


1. Download the PokerStars software (here)and follow the setup and installation instructions if you do not already have PokerStars on your computer. After you will need to create an account. This will take just a few minutes and you are under no obligation to spend money at any time. Again, you do not need to deposit money in your PokerStars account or provide any financial information in order to play in the World Blogger Championship of Online Poker event. Yes, it's absolutely free!


2. Visit the registration page, fill it out completely, and follow the related instructions.


3. After we verify the above steps have been followed, we will register you in the Online Poker Blogger Tournament. You can verify your registration by clicking on "Events" --> "Special" --> "World Blogger Championship of Online Poker" in the PokerStars software. You are not automatically registered after you submit your information. We will first manually check the blogs for the verification code and then register you for the event. Please allows 2-3 days for your registration to take place. You will only hear from us if your blog does not fit the criteria.


Prizes

(1st place) World Series of Poker Main Event package (valued at $12,000).

If Wil wins, you will receive a consolation prize of an entry into the July 16th (4:30pm ET) World Series of Poker 150 seat guaranteed tournament. Date of the heads-up match will be determined after the Blogger Tournament



(11th-20th place) $370 seat in the PokerStars WSOP 150-Seat Guaranteed tournament


Just because you missed getting a WSOP seat, we don't want you to miss out on the opportunity to play in the biggest poker event in the world. Eleventh through twentieth place will receive a $370 entry into the July 16th (4:30pm ET) 150 seat guaranteed WSOP qualifier. That means you still have a great shot at getting into the big one.

First prize is routinely over $100,000 and that kind of money could buy you into a lot of WSOP events.
